4. Terminology¶
These terms represent the overarching layout of the H9:
4.1. Algorithm¶
An Algorithm is an Eventide-designed audio processing module with carefully chosen parameters. The Algorithm Guide provides in-depth descriptions of each Algorithm.

4.2. Preset¶
A Preset is an Algorithm with a unique combination of parameter values that can be saved to the either a Preset List or the Preset Library.
You can navigate the Presets in your User Lists using Select Mode, or audition new Presets using Presets Edit Mode.
Once you’ve loaded a Preset, you can fine tune it using Parameters Edit Mode.
4.3. Parameter¶
Each Algorithm will include distinct controls that can be adjusted to acheive a wide variety of sounds within the current preset. Some algorithms may have more parameters than others.
4.4. List¶
Lists contain up to 99 Presets each, and are divided into editable User Lists and un-editable Factory Lists. The currently active List is referred to as your Playlist. A choice selection of Presets have been picked for the first default Playlist (User 1).
Select Mode allows you to select Presets from your Playlist, while Presets Edit Mode allows you to search through both Factory/User Lists and the Preset Library.
